Chianti, situated in Tuscany are one of the best known wine regions in Italy. This region has been producing wines for over 2000 years & recognised as a wine region since the 13th century. Its borders were defined in 1716 by an edict issued by Gran Duka Cosimo Medici III. The most highly regarded Chiantis come from the Chianti Classico zone that was awarded DOCG status in 1996.
